Who runs it

I'm Josef. I started Doodle Otter in September 2026 and run it on my own, in English and French. There is no team behind the name: I choose the subjects, set the rules every drawing has to pass, and answer the email.

Why it exists

I'm a dad of two, aged 4 and 5. Most coloring page sites bury the download behind pop ups, watermarks and sign up walls, and I got tired of clicking through them every time my kids wanted something to color. I wanted the opposite: a clean page, an honest preview, and a PDF that prints properly at 100% scale on paper people already own. Each set also comes as one PDF with every page, so a teacher can print a whole theme in one go.

How the pages are made

The drawings are made with AI image tools. I don't draw them by hand, and I'd rather say so plainly. Each preview image carries a tag in its file that marks it as AI-made.

A page goes through three steps before it is published. Software cleans the drawing into smooth, closed lines and makes the PDF. Automated checks then flag pages with gaps, gray smudges or shapes too small to color. Finally an AI vision model looks at every page against a written reject list that I set and keep up to date. About 7 pages in every 100 fail and are thrown away.

In October 2026 I went back through the most-visited sets and removed 76 pages that were too close to another page or too weak to keep. The colored examples on each set use the exact lines of the page: an image model suggests the colors, and software fills them into the page's own shapes.

What every page has to pass

• No known characters, mascots, logos or real products.
• No letters, numbers or stray marks hidden in the drawing.
• No wrong limb, wheel or wing counts, and no misplaced ears or horns.
• Closed outlines and no large black fills, so color stays where it should.
• The subject fills the page and is not cut off at the edge.
• Nothing frightening, violent or unsuitable for a classroom.

Difficulty levels

Each set comes in up to three levels. Easy uses bold outlines and big shapes for ages 3 to 5. Medium adds scenery and finer lines for ages 6 to 10. Detailed is dense line work for teens and adults.
