Who we are
Doodle Otter runs the website at doodleotter.com. When this policy says "we" or "us", it means Doodle Otter. You can reach us at hello@doodleotter.com.
What we collect
Server logs
Like every website, ours is delivered by servers that keep short technical logs. Our hosting and network provider, Cloudflare, records the IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of each request. We use these logs to keep the site secure, to fix problems and to count visits. We do not use them to identify you.
Searches
Site search runs in your browser. Your search words appear in the page address, for example /search/?q=dragon, so they show up in the server logs described above the same way any page address does. We do not link searches to a person.
The word search maker
Puzzles are built and turned into a PDF on your own device. The title and words you type stay in your browser and are not uploaded, stored or seen by us. This matters for teachers: you can use pupils' names in a puzzle without sending them anywhere.
If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you put in the message. We use it to reply and keep it only as long as the conversation needs.
Cookies
We do not set any cookies of our own today. Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie to tell real visitors from automated traffic. It does not track you across other sites.
Advertising
Doodle Otter does not show ads today. We expect to add display ads later to pay for the site. Before that happens we will update this policy to name the advertising partners, explain the cookies they use, and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
Children
Doodle Otter is written for parents, teachers, carers and adult hobbyists, who print pages for children. We do not ask anyone for personal information, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has emailed us, tell us and we will delete the message.
Who we share information with
We do not sell personal information. Information is handled only by the service providers that run the site for us, such as our hosting provider, and only so they can provide that service. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep information
Server logs are kept by our hosting provider for a limited period under its own retention rules. Emails are kept only as long as needed to answer you, unless we must keep them for legal reasons.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including the European Union, the United Kingdom and California, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to how it is used. Because we hold so little, the simplest route is to email hello@doodleotter.com and we will answer within 30 days.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will post the new version here and change the effective date at the top. Changes that affect how your information is used, such as the start of advertising, will be posted before they take effect.
