How to Print Coloring Pages

Print scale, paper for crayons and markers, whole-set PDFs for a class, and what to do when a print comes out wrong.

Print one page

Every page downloads as a one-page PDF that fits US Letter and A4. In the print dialog, pick "Actual size" or "100% scale" rather than "Fit to page". Fitting shrinks the drawing and thins the lines, which makes easy pages harder for small hands with crayons.

Print a whole set

Hubs with a "Download all" button offer one PDF with every page in it, plus one PDF per level (easy, medium, detailed). For a class, print the level you need once per student. To make a coloring book, print double-sided and staple along the left edge.

Paper and supplies

  • Crayons and colored pencils: plain 20 lb (75 gsm) copy paper is fine.
  • Markers: use 24 lb (90 gsm) paper or heavier so the ink does not bleed, and put a spare sheet underneath.
  • Paint or watercolor: cardstock (65 lb, about 175 gsm) if your printer takes it.

Save ink

The pages are black line art. Choose "Black and white" or "Grayscale" so the printer leaves its color cartridges alone. Draft mode is fine for easy pages, but keep normal quality for detailed pages, whose lines are fine.

If a print comes out wrong

  • The edge of the drawing is cut off: your printer has wide margins. Choose "Fit to printable area" for that page only.
  • Lines come out gray or faint: turn off ink saver or draft mode.
  • On a phone, the PDF opens without a print option: use the Share button, then Print.

What you can do with the pages

Pages are free for personal and classroom use. Teachers can print as many copies as a class needs, no credit required. Reselling the pages is not allowed. The terms of use have the details.
